As we know, undergoing bariatric surgery for the first time is inherently taxing on the patient. Of course, this is a particularly stressful situation for patients. Moreover, it is not uncommon to see patients who have already undergone a bariatric procedure and need help addressing a number of issues to include inadequate weight loss, weight regain, and/or complications resulting from their original surgery. I am equally invested in addressing their overall heath. Over this time, I have found that my patients are not seeking solutions exclusive to their weight. I had acid in my nasal passages before and asthma attacks in my sleep, so this is amazing.Since 2011, I have been working as a bariatric surgeon. It’s positional now (I can curl up into weird sleep positions that cause my torso to defy gravity). I was on 80mg pantoprozole and whatever I could get my hands on. I had a surprise twisting hernia that didn’t show on imaging- the hernia repair was the more painful part of the equation. I don’t think it’s possible to get more “pure” since I can genuinely see the contents. It’s a clear gelcap and the contents look like fine sand.

Vitamins- I take Bariatric fusion one per day plus iron and calcium chews. This allows more time for uptake and all is now well. The clinic put me on 2mg ozempic, which has several uses… but what it does for ME is slow intestinal processing. I do have issues with malabsorption- low blood protein and trouble with uptake of potassium and magnesium. I don’t have ANY wiggle room on sugar and I did with the sleeve. Not everyone loses weight I was mostly following the rules anyway and it wasn’t a big adjustment. You have to chew better- the hole from the pouch into the intestine is smaller and can get blocked by apple skin, etc. Recovery was a breeze- not scared of every twinge and gurgle.ĭumped 3 times in 14mo and 2 were related to candy. But still way less of an issue than breathing fire. I fell like I have a new friend that announces I just ate. Would do again in a heart beat only significant change was the amount of noise my new pouch makes. Weight loss is slower but less side effects. Post not an issue ear Spivey foods all of the time Awful had to limit foods and I could wake up coughing fire. So don’t know if this is something you’re afraid and want to avoid or want yo have as a counter measure just know I didn’t dump before and I don’t now. I was actually looking for dumping to occur to help reinforce. I just ramped up a bit quicker because I knew the limits - bite sizes, chewing, water etc. It made me think I really should have gone with RNY first. Seriously I did SOOOO much better with my revision than my sleeve.

I would really prefer the DS revision for the slight regain I’ve had - how substantial is the difference in weight loss between the two? I feel like I’m hesitant and full of questions. I had a hysterectomy a year ago and know I have a hernia, not much more info on it though. I trust my surgeon wholeheartedly and I can’t avoid the revision but I am admittedly very scared of the RNY as opposed to the VSG. What differences did you see in your weight loss from the first surgery to second? Faster, slower? Is it more familiar, or just as new because of the differences?ĭid you start having dumping syndrome? How prevalent is it?ĭid your acid reflux, if you had it, really improve? How bad was the post surgery adjustment the second time? My stomach isn’t stretched much from my VSG but can definitely eat more than the first few months. I feel like I’m hunting in all the wrong places? The flairs in here are the best I’ve found. I will have to do a revision and I am having a hard time finding detailed stories about revision experiences even on Bariatric forums. My acid reflux is out of control and even the expensive medication is no longer working.
